This research project consists of 6 Work Packages (WP). The first two sets deal with management issues and the project’s coordination (WP1) by cp FOODLAB LTD which is the project’s responsible organization as well as the dissemination of the results (WP2). This website has been constructed mainly for the dissemination of the results.

The rest four WP deal with interconnected experimental work that include the development and optimization of remediation methods for petroleum polluted soil.
The followed methodology was:

• Sampling of polluted with petroleum products soils from storage facilities
• Soil characterization
• Isolation of micro-organisms capable to degrade petroleum products from polluted soils.
• Remediation of the polluted soils in lab scale using several remediation techniques
• Construction, operation and evaluation of pilot units.
